Feeding live Brine Shrimp?

I’m currently cycling an Eclipse 5 gallon corner fish tank (freshwater) housing a single juvenile Zebra Danio and an African Dwarf Frog. My equipment includes a bio-wheel filter, hood lamp, air stone, large gravel substrate and a 25-watt Top Fin heater that is currently set at low and produces a consistent water temp. of 77.5 degrees. (sorry if this was all useless info!)

Basically, I’m looking to diversify/enhance said Danio’s & ADF’s current diet of flake food and frozen blood worms. Preferably, I’d like to find a local pet store (Seattle area) that sells ready-to-feed live brine shrimp. Setting up a mini-hatchery in my tiny ass apartment seems like a hassle (let me know of any possible mis-conceptions I may have about this!), although if no better options present themselves, I’ll make it work.

Can anyone share their experience feeding live Brine Shrimp? How often/how much should I feed? How do I make sure the ADF gets his fair share of live Brine Shrimp?

Regards!
I’m sticking with a single Zebra Danio just until the tank has finished cycling.

Crayfish to be added to a 10 gl. Would it be safe?

I have a 10 gl freshwater with marine sand bottom, 2 fake coral pieces, a rock arch with fake plants attached and 2 real plants. Also a male betta, columbian zebra pleco, ghost shrimp and MTS. Would it be safe to add a small crayfish? I would purchase this crayfish from a lfs. I have been told that crayfish will eat fish and then I have been told they won’t if the fish is bigger and faster than the cray. So would it be safe for my existing critters to add a tankmate?
Darryl,
I found my columbian at a lfs and they didn’t know what it was so I played dumb too and paid 13.00 for him. LOL I know I stole him.

Zebra danio fry not ghost shrimp :(

These little guys are only about 1-2 days old. I had 3-4 pregnant ghost shrimp and before i could get to her she went ahead and had the babies. This is my first time with ghost shrimp so i am hoping some survive however chances of very slim because of the other fish.

tank dimensions are 36″ by 15 .5″ 40 gallons, i know the dimensions are unique, it was a free tank I got lucky, right place at the right time. aqua clear 50 filter (amazing!) hyor heater, don’t know much about it, I got it on ebay for a super good price and it works very very well. I have 50 pounds of the rock in there, 1 piece of driftwood. 2 real plants, 2 artificial (potted plant by castle and leaf plant on driftwood are real. Strip light with a aqua glow 24 watt t8 bulb. ummm I think that covers it. sorry the quality sucks, it was taken on my phone, and because I have the drift wood in there I have “black” water its hard to see. Ah well the inhabitants are a school of danios which consist of 1 zebra 3 pink and 1 leopard, and fry which are at least 4 months by now they are doing well, there are 3 mollies, 1 male 2 females…which one is a baby…there are 2 cory catfish peppered….2 bumble bee gobys….a couple ghost shrimp…1 platy….and a fiddler crab. I’m loving the sand I have been seeing on here…so I think when my dano fry of a couple months old (that are in my 10 gallon right now) are ready to go in this tank I’m going to try sand in that with no inhabitants and see how it goes. I have breed the danios twice now successfully its SO easy and rewarding, any questions on anything feel free to message me and such. Peace out.

Too much ammonia in fish tank?

I have a 30 gallon freshwater aquarium. It has two zebra fish, a silver dollar fish, a sunburst, two neon tetras, a guppy, a frog, a scissors tail and a cory cat in it. I do a partial water change almost every 10 days. I have had it set up for about a month now. I test almost every day for ph, nitrate, and ammonia levels. The ph and nitrate levels are great. The ammonia levels are always high though. I have four ammonia bags in the tank (to help control the ammonia). I feed the fish twice a day fish flakes. There is never any left after 5 minutes of feeding. I also give them a treat once a week of freeze dried brine shrimp cube. Why do you think the ammonia is always high? I have tried ammonia lock to help control the ammonia, but it doesn’t seem to be helping. I have two filters in the tank and both hang on the back. What do you think could be causing the ammonia problem? I also add aquaium salt with every partial water change. Any suggestions?

My green spotted pufferfish has black on the sides of his belly. Is this normal?

He came to live with us 5/29 to a freshwater external filter tank. He lives with three zebra danios & a synodontis catfish- all in peace (so far). Instant ocean has been added to tank to increase specific gravity .002 over a few occasions- now it is 1.006. Nitrate was initially 20 and fluxuates up to 40 (water changes bring it back to 20). I’ve read about “black chin” and stress lines. I thought it might be related to the nitrates- how often should water changes be done-how much? (have been doing 25% every three or four days-10 gallon tank). I don’t think he’s stressed- he eats well (shrimp, mussels, bloodworms) and is curious about his tank, rests on bottom after he eats but isn’t depressed. Live plant and fake plants. Hidey fake log. Gravel . Ammonia and Nitrite are 0. gH 300 and kH 120. Any ideas on why he is black on his sites? It is darker than grey. It is small dots or spots on his belly and dark areas on his sides and under his chin. Lately they disappear at night. He okay?
Original values: 20 Nitrate, 0 Nitrite, 75 gH, 80 kH, 7.8 pH, 80 deg F, 0 Ammonia. Current values since the increased salinity: 20-40 Nitrate (water changes done when 40 to bring down to 20), 0 Nitrite, 300 gH, 120 kH, 7.8 pH, 0 Ammonia.
I did email the crew and they said he sounded okay and water parameters were good. They said that pufferfish will change color and not to be worried unless there’s other signs of illness or if the color didn’t ever go away, as it does at night.
