Is it worse to eat shrimp than to act like a homosexual?

God warns us in Leviticus that eating shrimp and acting homosexual are both abominations.

(Read the Bible and see for yourself.)

If we are really trying to follow God’s Word, which abomination is worse, or are they both the same?

Leviticus 11:10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:

Leviticus 18:22Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
I have nothing against eating shrimp or homosexuals. I was just asking Christians to explain why they can eat shrimp and at the same time condemn homosexuality.

Why isn’t the “Moral Majority” shutting down sushi bars or seafood restaurants?

Gay marriage is a HUGE issue for conservatives in this country, citing the bible as a refrence, in which it states “[Homosexuality] is detestable” (Leviticus 18:22). BUT my question is, in the very same book of the bible, God refers to something else as being “destestable”: “Anything living in the water that does not have fins or scales is to be detestable to you” (Leviticus 11:12).
So one could argue, that in GOD’s eyes, enjoying Unagi (freshwater eel) or octopus or shrimp, crab, lobster, is commiting the same “level” sin as a practicing homosexual.

alright i know the argument that no one is trying to stop homosexuals from having sex, just stopping legal recognition of the relationship, But my question then would be, How did sushi bars or seafood restaurants get health department approval, legal regodnition of their businesses.

on a side note I am a Christian, Often my arguement to these people is, STOP citing the bible as your purpose to “destroy the unnatural” because in
reality, why cant you just admit, that it is strange to you and you dont welcome it for it being different! because if you truley were a Christ Crusader, you would learn what i feel is the MOST IMPORTANT BIBLE VERSE EVER “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you” (Matthew 7:1)

all bible quotes are from NIV version

Do you pick and choose which Leviticus laws to follow?

Which laws are for you?

Clams, oysters, crabs, lobsters, and shrimp are abominations to God. 11:10-12

or

Four-legged fowls are abominations. 11:20

or

what to do with jizz.15:16-18, 32

or

Undressing a menstruating woman. 18:19

or

If you have damaged testicles you must not “come nigh to offer the bread of his God.” 21:20

or

Don’t have homosexual relations. 18:22

AND BEFORE ANYONE SAYS ‘jesus coming negates the Mitzvot’ (613 laws of old testament)

Let me remind you what Jesus said…

“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:18-19. The Old Testament is to be abided by until the end of human existence itself.

So, do you pick and choose your laws or obey them all?
Lol, uranus2mars and evergreen, did you read the whole question?

All of the vicious Old Testament laws will be binding forever. “It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid.” Luke 16:17

jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.” Matthew 5:17

“Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God.” 2 Peter 20-21

Come on, Jesus says you must obay ALL laws.

Why do people pick and choose parts of the Bible to enforce, expecially conserning homosexuality?

So, to those of you who say homosexuality is a sin (according to Leviticus 18:22), here are some other things that are a sin, according to your bible…

Shaving (Leviticus 19:27)
Shrimp (Leviticus 11:10)
Tattoos (Leviticus 19:28)
Working on Saturday (Leviticus 19:30)
Polyester (Leviticus 19:19)
Bunnies (Leviticus 11:6)
Vegitable gardens (Leviticus 17:10)
Hamburger (Leviticus 19:19)

Why do you condemn homosexuality, but not these things? They are all abominations to the lord, according to the Bible. Is it unreasonable for me to not take anyone seriously who says “Being gay is a sin!” but who shaves, works on saturday, wears polyester, or has a pet bunny? Your thoughts?
Hey Don, why is one part of the Bible more truthfull than the other? Leviticus is a part of the Bible too, isn’t it?
ac28, why is it any more of an abomination than the other things?
Oops, got the verses about hanburger and vegitable gardens switched. Just flp them around, people! :D

Respectful question for Jews and Christians?

Upon plain reading of Leviticus 11:9-12 I read that eating Shrimp is an abomination. I understand many believe that the wording of it is such that its the shrimp that are dirty and not the eating, even thout the wording in the NKJV is verse 12:Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales—that shall be an abomination to you (NKJV). I understand from Matthew 15:11 Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.(NKJV) is used to say that we are no longer under the dietary restrictions from Leviticus.
If you answer that Leviticus was good rules for the desert becaus of food preparation, did food prepraration change in Jesus’s time making it ok to eat shrimp? Is it still a sin to eat shrimp, is it still an abmonination? Did Jesus reverse the ruling much like in the Constitution the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments reverse out the slavery rules in the original 1789 document, the 3/5 rule for example was eliminated.
