right now i have 1 red tailed black shark, and 5 red serpae tetras

its a 30 gallon fish tank which used to have a bichir in it but he recently passed due to age after several years, ive been curious as to what i can add if any to the current set up i have now

just a note, i dont like corys theyre dreadfully boring lol

and i dont like plecos, i grow out a tank wall to wall with green algae and the damn thing doesnt eat any of it and 2 days later i find it all skinny and dieing so i went to the store and returned it because APPARENTLY my algae wasnt good enough for it.

ive been in the hobby for several years now and have had a vast assortment of freshwater fish most of which i gave away to friends who wanted to get into the hobby

im just looking for ideas just no corys or plecos (:

(i also have a 5 gallon with a male betta in it and was told he could go well with a ghost shrimp or 2 so i bought 2 of them and 1 of them hadnt even hit the sand of the tank yet and was already getting eaten so i saved the other and fed it to the red tail in the big tank. if he can have a companion id love an idea)
its a freshwater fish tank incase i didnt mention that? idk

and the fish currently in the tank are semi aggressive, i forgot to mention that so fish like fancy guppies with long tails or anything like that wont work

I feed them flakes and pellets as well I just had some left over from rasing guppy fry and thought that they might like a treat.

MY question is will i be able to use the same method- i don’t really want to add any chemicals to my tank, and the readily available treatments contain some form of copper E.g malachite green which are toxic to invertebrates. or are there any more treatments that are “chemical free”?
