do mountain shrimps hide in a tropical fish tank and do they eat much?

we have just bought 2 shrimps the other week and only seen one of them. The other one tends to stay on top of the pump. Do they eat much too. I have asked a couple of questions lately about these as I havent got a clue about them and still learning so would appreciate any answers. Thankyou .I have checked a couple of web sites out and they dont really give you a lot of info about the shrimps I have.
I didnt read about them because we never thought we would buy them until we seen them in our local pet store and we asked about them and said they were ok to put into tropical tank. We thought it would finish our tank off nicely. And it does its just now I am learning about them .
SO THANKS FOR YOU OPINION
They are mountain shrimp not ghost shrimp (just for reference) thanx

what is the best thing to do for a beginner fish owner?

hey everybody. just got a 10 gallon fish tank a couple weeks ago. i have 5 different types of community fishes. 2 shrimps and 1 bottom feeder. i’m sorry i don’t know their scientific names. anyway i have a heater, and a whisper filter. i clean the tank almost every week which is a pain in the ass because i’m a working student. i wanted to know what else i can do to keep them cleaner. i’ve fed them less than i did at first. i totally clean the whole tank. i took out most of my granite just coz it’s so hard to clean them as well. i have a real shrimp bamboo, 1 fake short plant and 2 coliseum ruins as decor. they’re real tiny though. i’m thinking of getting one of those auto feeders coz i’ll be on leave for more than a week. i’m not sure which is best. can you guys advice what else can i do? and what else my tank needs? thanks so much!

Can you save my Sea Anemone?

I’ve had my bubble tip anemone for a couple of weeks now and I don’t know if he’s getting better or worse. I have him under 192 watts of power compact lighting. He’s not eating and his “lips” around his mouth is always swollen. All the water parameters are ideal. (pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, calcium, iodine). He looks kinda bleached. I was wondering if I should keep the lighting on 24-7 so it would encourage the zooxanthellae algae to grow back inside him?
the guy at the pet store told me to buy food for filter feeders to feed him. I know you’re supposed to feed anemones pieces of fish or shrimp. does anyone else feed their anemones food meant for filter feeders? does anyone have any suggestions?
to reptileking: dt’s live phytoplankton… what does the “dt” stand for? thanks!

Is this a good community fish tank setup?

I will be getting a 30 gallon tank in a couple of weeks and am planning on putting together a freshwater, community, fish tank.I’ve done some research and some planning and I’ve decided that this is what I will put in it.

- 2 Silver Dollar Fish
- 6 Cherry Barbs
- 4 Harlequin Rasbora
- 3 Kuhli Loaches
- 5 Red Cheery Shrimp

Any opinions, suggestions,or comments will be encouraged and greatly appreciated as this will be my first community fish tank.
Also,I was a little worried about my shrimp getting eaten but I did some research and it seems like all of the fish that will be in the tank with them either don’t eat meat, or are to small to eat them.I’m still a little worried about it though.Do you think there is any chance of them getting eaten?
Thank you experienced fish owners!
