What is a small freshwater fish that can be fine with a betta?

I have a 10 gallon tank with a male betta that ive only seen flare at his own reflection.
I have 5 ghost shirmps but my betta never nips or flares at them just stares.
Whats a small freshwater fish that gets about 2 inches long and can be kept alone or in twos with a male betta? i dont want to overstock my tank with the shrimps and betta.
My tank is heated and filtered/cycled

  3. there is soooooo many fish that you could put with your betta… well I would say in your 10 gallon either get like 3-4 tiger barbs (but they may or may not attack ur ghost shrimp, because they are viscious little guys, i have some) or like two male mollies, or two male platties, or 4 male dwarf platties (the reason to get males is because these fish are livebarriers and they reproduce quickly, females get pregnant at the store, so unless you want a billion babies, just get the males, just make sure that when you are getting the fish that you tell the person helping you that you just want both males, they should know how to tell the sexes appart). but yeah i would just stick with the betta and one or two other small fish and your ghost shrimp in your 10 gallon so that you wont overstalk it. but most fish can live with bettas. if you go to a pet store you can look at the different fish you like and ask whether or not they can live with bettas. some of the DONT PUT WITH BETTA FISH ARE: two males, (females can live together in a community tank), a male betta and a male gourami, and saltwater fish. but most tropical fish can live with bettas. I have many aquaruims and I have a betta in almost all of them. they are a bit territorial at first but then they adjust. hope this helped!!

  4. do not get tiger barbs, don’t listen to the other people, they nip the fins of fish with long flowing fins.

I would suggest getting a school of neon tetra (about 5 or 6 of them) those would do nicely, or a school of glofish (neon colored danio) or zebra danio

no guppies cause the betta will mistake it for another betta
no goldfish either since goldfish are coldwater, they would not mix with a tropical fish

a lot of researching and have been an owner of betta, glofish & tiger barbs
