Sounds like possible fin rot. It’s caused by bacterial infection usually as a result of infrequent water changes. Clean the tank and treat him with a broad spectrum antibiotic. Make sure you follow the directions exactly.

He may have “ICK” ( not kidding on the name) That is when the fish’s fins deteriorate. There are drops you can add to the water to get him healthier. If a fish doesn’t have fins to swim, they die. Check the PH of the water & change the filter as needed. Also beta fish do not need warm water. They can survive in room temperature water. gl!

You have to maintain perfect water condition. Also there are other approaches to deal with Fin Rot disease. One of them is to raise the salt concentration to 0.5% while at the same time apply some antibiotics available from local fish shop. Another form of treatment is to purchase medicated flake food and feed to the fish. If everything is done perfectly and provided that the symptoms are still in the early stage, chances for the fish to recover is very high.

It sounds like your betta has fin rot. You should do a 25% water change, scrub the sides for algae, and give him medications. I suggest MelaFix, by API.

Make sure your Betta has a 25% water change weekly, in his tank that is at least 1 gallon. I suggest also, Ghost Shrimp fry, and freeze dried bloodworms to feed him. Also, don’t feed him one day each week. That’s called fasting. I would put a Java Fern in that tank. It will clean up some of the waste, and will take ammonia out too. Betta fish have to have acsess to open air, for they breathe air, like humans. Gourami likewise. And his water temp. should be at 78-80. No bubbler needed, but betta like to play in them. Put a little salt in too.
Hope I helped!

It’s fin rot, caused by poor water quality. Don’t forget to do the weekly water changes.
